The trip by Federal President Ignazio Cassis to Kyiv became known in the media because of an information leak.
The Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) announced that this endangered the security of the Swiss delegation in Ukraine.
The FDFA has filed a complaint against unknown persons.
It’s about the suspicion of breach of official secrecy because Cassis’ travel plans were leaked.The foreign department confirmed to Radio SRF a corresponding online report by the French-speaking Swiss newspaper “Le Temps”.
In mid-October, the media announced that Ignazio Cassis was meeting the Ukrainian president in Kyiv. Media interest was great.
This indiscretion could have potentially endangered the Federal President and his delegation in the war-torn Ukraine, writes “Le Temps”, citing the Department of Foreign Affairs. The EDA has therefore filed a criminal complaint against unknown persons.
