ING France bank changes hands

The bank ING France announced on Tuesday that it had promoted as general manager Thomas Labergère, until now at the head of the financing and investment bank.

This appointment is part of the logic of refocusing the activities of the Dutch bank in France towards the business of corporate finance, after the announcement of the cessation of the activity of the house online bank, intended for individuals, in December 2021. It is accompanied by a series of appointments to the management committee.

We are refocusing on our historic business of corporate and investment banking, summarized in a press release by Mr. Labergre, alongside a renewed management team.

This 54-year-old financier has spent most of his career with the American bank Citi, in Paris and New York. He joined ING in September 2021. The French subsidiary of the Dutch bank employs around 200 people.

20,000 real estate loans being repaid

The year 2022 marked the end of ING’s online banking adventure in France. Most of the approximately 500,000 customers have since migrated to Boursorama, a subsidiary of Socit Generale, after an agreement between the two banks announced in February 2022.

This agreement did not apply to all of the clientele. ING France retains the management of some 20,000 mortgages still in the books, until the last reimbursement thereof. All current accounts and savings accounts have been closed, an ING spokesman told AFP.
