Ingolstadt gets a rare point
Dresden ends its terrible series

Dynamo Dresden celebrates an important success in the 2nd Bundesliga: The Saxons jump from the relegation ranks after five defeats in a row against Fortuna Düsseldorf. And last but not least, Ingolstadt surprisingly scores a point again.

Dynamo Dresden – Fortuna Düsseldorf 1: 0 (1: 0)

Dynamo Dresden has ended its negative streak in the second Bundesliga after five defeats in a row. The promoted team defeated Fortuna Düsseldorf 1-0 (1-0) and gave coach Alexander Schmidt some rest. In front of 8912 spectators, Christoph Daferner (43rd minute / penalty kick) made the decision. Due to Corona restrictions, Dresden will have to play the next home game against Karlsruhe on December 5th without fans.

After a powerful initial phase from Düsseldorf, Dresden came into play better and better when Daferner (28th) had a chance. Shortly before the break, Christoph Klarer fouled Dynamo talent Ransford Königsdörffer in the penalty area, Daferner used the penalty to score his sixth goal of the season. After the change, Dresden left clear chances for the second goal, Düsseldorf had their best chance with a shot from close range by Khaled Narey (76th). Shortly before the end, Robert Bozenik (89th) missed an opportunity to equalize.

FC Ingolstadt – Karlsruher SC 1: 1 (1: 1)

During his comeback in professional football, Dietmar Beiersdorfer could not celebrate a victory for his new club, FC Ingolstadt. As a grandstand guest, the new sports director with his corona protective mask saw a 1: 1 (1: 1) of the bottom of the table against Karlsruher SC. A shot by Thomas Keller, which KSC defender Christoph Kobald deflected decisively into his own goal, put the Schanzer in the lead in front of 4,348 spectators in the Ingolstadt sports park (27th minute). The 1: 1 also fell after a corner: After a header from striker Philipp Hofmann hit the post, Dominik Kother pushed the ball over the line (42nd).

The FCI invested a lot. And after a counterattack by attacker Maximilian Beister, he also had the top chance to make it 2-0 (34th). The bottom of the table was once again not mature enough. After the break, the level dropped and the game was tough. After six points from 14 games, the gap between Ingolstadt and relegation rank 16 is considerable: there are eight points! Beiersdorfer nevertheless spread a lot of enthusiasm for work before the game on the Sky microphone. The 58-year-old spoke of “a challenging situation”. It is about “collecting a few points by the end of the year in order to have a good starting position for the second half of the season”.

1. FC Heidenheim – Holstein Kiel 2: 1 (1: 1)

Robert Leipertz stopped the downward trend at 1. FC Heidenheim with a late hit. Coach Frank Schmidt’s team defeated Holstein Kiel 2: 1 (1: 1) and improved to eighth place in the table. The team from the Ostalb had previously received four defeats in five games. Christian Kühlwetter had given the home side the lead with a low shot in the first minute. Seasoned Fin Bartels (34th) equalized. Joker Leipertz (85th) scored the winning goal in the Heidenheim final offensive with a beautiful long-range shot.

In the relegation battle, Kiel received their first defeat in the fifth game under the new coach Marcel Rapp. The guests got into a swim right from the start and were lucky that the gap was not greater. Surprisingly, the 34-year-old Bartels equalized when Heidenheim’s back team was unsorted.

After the break, the Kielers showed themselves to be greatly improved, but they lacked the sparkling ideas in the attack. Heidenheim saved the lead over time – attacker Tim Kleindienst even briefly ran across the pitch with his right shoe in hand after losing it in a duel.
