Injured before the World Cup in Qatar, Christopher Nkunku back in training with RB Leipzig

French international striker Christopher Nkunku partially resumed collective training on Tuesday with his club, RB Leipzig, a first since his injury on November 15, depriving him of the World Cup in Qatar. He should therefore return to the field very soon.

Almost three months after his injury, depriving him of the France team and the World Cup in Qatar, Christopher Nkunku has resumed collective training with RB Leipzig. A video posted to RB Leipzig’s Twitter account shows the player running on frozen ground, saying to the camera: “Finally back”.

Nkunku, however, only warmed up and performed a few exercises with his teammates, but did not complete a full session. His return comes two weeks before the reception of Manchester City in the round of 16 first leg of the Champions League on February 22.

Injured before the World Cup

On the eve of flying with the France team for the World Cup in Qatar, Nkunku had suffered a tear in the external ligament of the left knee during the last training of the Blues at Clairefontaine and had to give way to Randal Kolo Muani. Even if he has not played since, the one who had been designated by his peers, best Bundesliga player of the 2021/22 season.
