Inkle Studios unveils A Highland Song, a rhythmic ride through Scotland

Its misty hills are naturally synonymous with long hikes lulled by the melody of the bells hanging from the necks of hundreds of sheep. Yet it’s another song that will play A Highland Song, the next title from Inkle Studio, a side-scrolling platform/adventure game where you’ll have to be careful to keep up. Indeed, it is also a rhythm game in which we follow the quest of young Moira McKinnon, ready to cross the Highlands to finally see the sea.

In development since the end of 2020, A Highland Song endeavors to bring out this particular atmosphere which makes all the charm of Scotland. In a long developer notebook published on its website, Inkle Studios explains that it called on Paul Scott Canavan, Scottish artistic director who worked on Magic, Destiny 2 or The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. This game will be entirely animated by hand. As for the soundtrack, the central element around which the game revolves, it will be signed by two folk groups, Talisk and Fourth Moon.

Inkle Studios has not yet communicated a release horizon for A Highland Songbut we already know that this title is scheduled to be released on PC via Steam and on the Nintendo Switch console.
