ELECTRIC CAR

Aptera is one of the last remaining solar car companies, but it also faces challenges. The start-up is now reporting the first fleet order.

  • The US start-up Aptera has landed a major order from SustainabilitySooner.
  • The order is worth 3.35 million US dollars.
  • There are a total of 101 models of Aptera’s solar cars with a range of 640 kilometers.

New electric cars are presented almost every day, most recently Ford with the new Explorer and Volkswagen with the ID.2 made a name for themselves. Even the sports car manufacturer Lamborghini is taking big steps towards the electric age.

But there is hardly a new product that breaks with conventional vehicle construction like the US start-up Aptera. The US company can look back on a turbulent company history and is courting investors so that series production of the debut plant can succeed. This has not yet been definitively secured.

The first fleet order in the company’s history comes at the right time. The company SustainabilitySooner has placed a large order for a total of 101 models of the solar car with a total volume of 3.35 million US dollars. However, this pre-order is not legally binding.

The order comes at exactly the right time for Aptera. Especially since SustainabilitySooner has promised to order significantly more solar vehicles from Aptera. There is talk of over 100,000 fleet vehicles in the next few years. You can read more reports from the field of alternative energy generation here on Netzwelt.
