For a month, the comedian lived at 2,401 meters above sea level – and wrote his new stage program there.
Actually, camping is not his thing at all, reveals comedian Cenk Korkmaz in an interview with G&G presenter Joel Grolimund. Nevertheless, in July he moved to the mini humor festival tent in the mountains above Arosa for a month. But: “It was more like glamping, with your own bed and kitchen,” says the man from Winterthur.
There, on the terrace of the saddle hut, the 34-year-old lived for a whole month – and processed his impressions and experiences into a new comedy program.
Stormy nights and prominent visitors
Although Korkmaz could and wanted to benefit from the peace and reflection that the great outdoors brings, he never got bored. Snowfall in July and an overnight storm that nearly blew his tent away kept him busy. “You really get to feel the forces of nature up there.” Unannounced visitors such as humor festival director Frank Baumann and comedian colleague Stefan Büsser also caused a distraction.
“The two visits were a welcome change,” enthuses Korkmaz four days after his return to the G&G studio. “Frank Baumann was largely responsible for my time in the writing tent, so I was very grateful.” In addition to tips and tricks for working on stage, the 65-year-old always has good book recommendations to hand.
Back on stage with «Ratlos»
In the end, the writing tent seems to have served its purpose. Cenk Korkmaz has returned to Zurich with a new stage program entitled «Ratlos». And he is certain that the isolation helped him to find inspiration: “If you’ve been isolated for a long time, you start to reflect and realize everything. Such a break to look back on the career so far is enriching.”
It’s really serious for Korkmaz on Friday, December 8th. Then he will appear on stage in the Tschuggenzelt for the first time with his new program written in the writing tent.
