Insta360 Go 3: the mini onboard camera is back in a version resolutely cut for action

As the holidays approach, Insta360 is launching its latest on-board camera, the Go 3. This mini camera is more efficient than its predecessor and above all more versatile, advantageously distinguishing itself from a classic action camera like the GoPro Hero11 or the ‘Insta360 One RS.

2.7K video and revised Action Pod

Unsurprisingly, Insta360 is taking advantage of this new iteration to change the recipe a bit while taking into account the grievances expressed against the Go 2. The first welcome novelty is the arrival of the 2.7K, while the previous version was content with 2K. If we are not familiar with 4K yet, it is a very good compromise for a device of only 35 grams, which is intended more for sharing on social networks.

The second pleasing novelty is the arrival of a more sophisticated Action Pod. While the previous version of this Action Pod was reminiscent of a mini multifunction tripod, the new model goes even further and incorporates a pivoting screen, allowing the small Go 3 to be transformed into a real action camera. It thus becomes possible to have a live remote preview, and to configure the camera easily. Obviously, this accessory has its own battery, allowing you to go from 45 min to more than 170 min of video.

Props and AI

As usual, Insta360 delivers its camera with a selection of accessories allowing the Go 3 to be used in many situations. The magnetic pendant allows the camera to be fixed around the neck while the EasyClip clamp, as its name suggests, allows the camera to be hung where the clamp can be fixed. Finally, the adhesive mount acts as a super-tripod thanks to its reusable adhesive surface, allowing the camera to be placed in many positions and on many surfaces. Additionally, this mount has a ¼” thread for using a standard tripod or selfie stick.

Insta360 also relies on all the usual software processing and capture modes to entice. TimeLapse, HyperLapse, AI-boosted HDR and 120 fps slow-motion, it’s all there. Among these functions, the FreeFrame mode, allowing to choose the image ratio (9:16 or 16:9) after capture, and the maintenance of the horizon at 360° are the most interesting.

Availability and prices

For all those who do not want to be burdened with a classic action-cam and all its accessories, there is no doubt that this Go 3 will hit the mark. We think in particular of hikers, cyclists or motorcyclists who do not want to weigh themselves down or hinder their movements by offering POV sequences.

Already available, the Insta360 Go 3 camera is available in three versions, integrating 32, 64 or 128 GB of storage for respective prices of €429.99, €449.99 and €479.99. The pack contains the camera, the three supports and the Action Pod.
