How the pricing table works

After the One RS, One RS 1 Inch and One X2, the manufacturer’s Insta360 range is enriched with a new 360° camera, the X3, which aims to replace the One X2 while bringing its share of new features.

A camera reviewed in depth

Almost two years after the release of the One X2, Insta360 is revamping its flagship 360° camera in an even more advanced X3 version. If the camera takes the “stick” format so practical to use, it sports many developments to replace its predecessor with dignity.

First of all, we notice that the control screen is getting bigger, going to 2.29 inches, which should improve the handling of the camera as well as the readability of the video feedback. The body of the camera has four buttons to facilitate handling, especially with gloves. The new model retains the waterproofness without a housing up to 10 meters, which allows you to take it for all water activities without batting an eyelid.

New sensor

On the hardware side, Insta360 announces the arrival of new ½ inch sensors. This configuration allows the X3 to shoot in 5.7K 30 fps and capture 72 megapixel shots. The quality of low-light images should be improved. Defect already pointed out during the test of its predecessor, this new version does not exceed 30 fps at maximum definition. It will be necessary to switch to 4K to take advantage of the fluidity of 60 fps.

Like a traditional action camera, the Insta360 X3 is capable of single-lens filming up to 4K 30 fps, and up to 2.7K using the new MaxView mode offering a field angle of 170° . The Bullet Time mode also gains in definition, going to 4K at 120 fps and 3K at 180 fps. The timeLapse mode is not to be outdone, now offering shots in 8K.

Pre-trigger recording is there

The ultimate in convenience, the Insta360 X3 gains a new “loop recording” mode allowing you to record continuously and save only the minutes preceding the trigger, ideal for never missing the crucial moment.

Finally, Insta360 has equipped its new camera with a larger capacity battery. It goes from 1630 mAh for the One X2 to 1800 mAh, but the autonomy is similar: 81 minutes while filming in 5.7K 30 fps.

Price & availability

The Insta360 X3 is already available from €539.99. Insta360 offers many optional accessories to equip its camera.
