Instagram continues to push with Reels with new creative features

The Reels have been around for two years on Instagram and Meta continues to push them to face the fierce competition that is TikTok. The social network presents new creation functions for these short videos.

Faced with competition from the Chinese application, Facebook will look more and more like TikTok. Changes that are also coming to Instagram, which will push exclusive Reels for those who opt for a paid subscription to influencers.

All videos become Reels on Instagram

Meta announces that, from now on, all video posts under 15 minutes will be automatically shared as Reels. Note that videos published as such previously will remain as before and will not be converted. All videos will be gathered in the profile tab which was previously dedicated to Reels.

Separately, Instagram states that “ if you have a public account, your new videos — now Reels — may be eligible to be recommended and seen by more people on Instagram. This currently applies to Reels with a duration of less than 90 seconds “. While it’s unclear exactly how Instagram’s recommendation algorithm works, it’s a safe bet that Reels have an advantage over photos.

New Ways to Create Reels

If Meta says that ” photos are at the heart of the Instagram experience “, we doubt it a little to see our news feeds in the application. Moreover, the company will make it possible to ” remix public photos and add his paw to it through a Reels.

This is going to be creating in Reels choosing between a green screen, a horizontally or vertically split screen, or a picture-in-picture reaction view to add a video commentary to a photo. We can show the original photo at the same time as its video, or afterwards.

Instagram will also add templates to more easily create Reels, with audio and video slots in which you can add your content. The social network also incorporates a dual mode, which allows you to record a Reel by filming with the front camera and the rear camera at the same time.
