Instagram pictures in the same place

Alvarez remembered his wife with a special campaign. On the day of her death, which is also the birthday of his daughter, he and the little girl re-enacted the photo shoot that his wife and he had organized during their pregnancy. The child wore a dress the same color as her late mother, and the photos were taken in the same location, Alvarez explained in an Instagram post. He hadn’t gone to the site since his wife’s death.

That his daughter is alive is “a miracle” for him

“It was a tough road, but I walked it with my head held high,” wrote the father and widower from California. “I try to be the best father to my daughter. I want my wife to be proud of me.” The photo shoot was “very emotional” for him, Alvarez told “Good Morning America”. He could feel the presence of his deceased wife: “She was there with me.”

For Alvarez, the fact that his daughter is alive is “a miracle”: after the accident, she had no oxygen in her mother’s body for 20 minutes. “She never gave up, and that’s how I learned never to give up,” says the single father. When the girl is old enough, he wants to show her all of his memorabilia – “so that she can get an idea of who her mother really was”.

In the mourning for his wife, his daughter was “the light at the end of the tunnel” for him, says Alvarez. “She gave me the strength to keep going. I fought for my life and she for hers.
