The feature will initially be limited to a few creators before being rolled out more widely in the coming months.

Meta certainly could not miss NFTs and their integration will begin very soon in the group’s various applications.

A free feature for the moment and tested on a small group of users

After Mark Zuckerberg confirmed his ambitions on this subject during an online broadcast, Adam Mosseri, the boss of Instagram, took the floor in a Reels video, also shared on Twitter, to announce the arrival of NFTs under a few days in the mobile app.

For this first phase of rollout, only a select few creators will have the ability to display NFTs in both their posts, stories, and private messages, and their details can be tagged in posts in the same way as a user profile. or a product.

The feature will be offered for free and Instagram will not charge fees on transactions at this time. Both Ethereum and Polygon blockchains will be supported at launch.

The arrival of NFTs on Instagram, and its billion monthly active users, could breathe new life into this market, which has been in decline for several months, but also allow Meta to relaunch in the field of crypto-currencies after the failure of the currency Diem, formerly Libra, discontinued at the beginning of 2022.
