Chrissy Teigen is calling for more regulations on the internet. John Legend’s wife will keep her children away from social media until then.

She herself has almost 43 million followers on Instagram and celebrates her family life online. But Chrissy Teigen (38) wants her children to live a life away from social media. With singer John Legend (45), the model is raising daughter Luna (8), six-year-old son Miles, as well as the youngest children Esti (16 months) and Wren (11 months) with strict rules for digital media.

One hour of screen time on the weekend

At a panel discussion on parenting in the digital age on June 4, Teigen discussed the problem of raising children in the world of digital media with media manager and DreamWorks founder Jeffrey Katzenberg (73). The mother of four children explained according to “People” regarding their children’s tablet use: “There is a tight time frame. Maybe an hour on the weekend.”

Instagram ban until 18 years

What frightens the American most about children’s tablet use is the amount of inappropriate advertisements that are shown to young people when they watch YouTube videos. There should “absolutely” be regulation of the advertisements that children see on a website. “If there aren’t more rules and regulations, I would prefer that they not be on social networks,” Teigen added. “I want them to thrive as children, safe and happy.”

Teigen is aware of the dangers of social media. Therefore, ideally, her children should only use Instagram & Co. “after high school,” i.e. after they reach adulthood. That would be her “absolute dream.”

Rocky road to becoming a mother

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have been married since 2013. Daughter Luna crowned their marriage in 2016, son Miles was born in 2018. Daughter Esti Maxine Stephens was born in early 2023. Just five months later, a surrogate mother gave birth to their son Wren after artificial insemination. In 2020, Teigen lost her unborn son Jack during pregnancy. “Halfway through the pregnancy, it was clear that he would not survive and neither would I if I did not intervene medically,” she later explained.
