What is Sudoku?

Sudokus are number puzzles in which the goal is to enter numbers from one to nine in a grid of nine by nine boxes. The grid itself is divided into nine squares of three by three boxes each, as well as nine horizontal and nine vertical columns.

Each number from one to nine may appear only once in each of the named units. The gameplay may sound boring and complicated at first, but once you understand it, it can be quite captivating.
