Most of us instinctively look for new products as soon as annoying pimples etc. plague us. But we don’t always have to buy new cosmetics! However, concentrated skin care power doesn’t come cheap either. Many of us also tend to reach for the product shelf too quickly. 1. Do not use cotton pads

Cotton pads and similar products are often used when it comes to removing make-up in the evening or applying liquid products such as toners or facial toners. Due to their absorbency, pads and cloths swallow far too much product, which is then wasted. Instead of cotton pads with micellar water, you can use cleansing oil to remove make-up. Simply massage this into your face with your fingers and then wash off. In just one step you can get rid of make-up and dirt. The same applies to other liquid products such as serums or toners. Apply directly to the face (not into your hands first, product is lost here too) and spread with your fingers – this saves a lot of product that would otherwise end up in the cotton pad.

2. Change your pillow

Let’s face it – most of us don’t change our bedding as often as we probably should. At least when it comes to pillows, this is a very useful measure if you are struggling with stubborn impurities that you just can’t get rid of. All sorts of things collect on your pillow at night that your skin isn’t happy about. Whether it’s residue from make-up, hairspray, night sweats, dead skin cells or bacteria: all of these things can promote impurities and clog pores. Changing your pillowcase more often is a useful tip that doesn’t cost you anything.

3. Don’t get too close to the mirror

No, this tip is not a joke. Here a blackhead, there too large pores and there a pimple that could actually be expressed: magnifying mirrors, make-up mirrors or bathroom mirrors easily tempt us to mess with our sensitive facial skin until we only make things worse . Looking far too close and far too long into the (magnifying) mirror unnecessarily misleads us. 4. Wash hands regularly

This means that bacteria and dirt can transfer to your skin in no time (literally) and cause pimples or even inflammation. So in your everyday life, make sure you just go to the sink again. 5. No hot shower

This tip is not for those who take warm showers, because you should shower colder for the sake of your skin! Spending too long in a hot shower can dry out the skin and strip it of its natural oily film. This subsequently promotes irritation because the skin barrier is disrupted. The high temperature also increases the potential for irritation. That doesn’t mean we have to take ice-cold showers. But for healthy skin, the time in the shower should be as short as possible and the temperature should be at least lukewarm. A positive side effect: you also save on water and electricity costs.
