If you don’t want to or can’t build a solar system on your roof, you’re looking for alternatives. A start-up from Poland is now supplying this: a wind turbine in the form of a garden fence.

Wind turbines instead of solar cells: This idea should also be discussed in German households. Maybe because the solar generator doesn’t provide enough energy. Perhaps because a solar roof is out of the question from an aesthetic or structural point of view. So-called wind trees and wind bushes can be an alternative. Now there is another with the power-generating garden fence.
The product from the Polish start-up does not rely on bifacial solar modules, which are also known to be available in the form of fences. Instead, the so-called wind panel consists of wind turbines arranged side by side, which when connected actually resemble a garden fence, reports the website Emerging Europe.
The panels can be placed freely on the property as a single element. If there is enough space, a property can also be completely surrounded by the fence. The company calculates that a maximum output of 40 kilowatts is possible on a 1,000 square meter fenced plot of land.
In addition to private use, Panel Wiatrowy also sees public space as a potential area of application, for example along motorways. Here, a one kilometer long fence would achieve a maximum output of 200 kilowatts.
Wind panels are quiet, extremely durable and resistant to harsh weather conditions, they don’t spoil landscapes, they look aesthetic, they are safe for birds and people, they are quick and easy to set up, and they are highly scalable.

It is not yet certain when the innovative wind fence will be launched. Panel Wiatrowy recently took second place in a Polish clean energy competition worth over EUR 60,000. According to the manufacturer, the investment costs should be amortized within four years. The typical service life is 50 years, which is a whopping 20 years longer than Tesla, for example, promises for its solar roof.
