Intel: a mega-factory will be built in Ohio

(CercleFinance.com) – Intel announced on Friday that it would invest more than $20 billion in the construction of a new site to house two new-generation factories in the state of Ohio.

The American manufacturer of microprocessors explains that the project should enable it to boost its production of semiconductors in the face of the explosion in demand for advanced components and to bring new ranges of innovative chips to the market.

The building – which will span an area of more than 400 acres in Licking County – is to house nearly 3,000 employees.

The investment project – the largest ever granted by the private sector in Ohio – should also allow the creation of 7,000 jobs during the construction phase, then tens of thousands of jobs with local suppliers and partners.

The construction site will start at the end of 2022, with the objective of starting production at the end of 2025.
