Long announced, Intel’s return to the dedicated graphics card market has not been smooth sailing, but at the end of the tunnel, we are beginning to see the light.

A light that should first illuminate the laptop world… and again, things seem to have to be done in two stages, if we are to believe the many indiscretions of our colleagues from Videocardz.

Arc Alchemist 3 series at the moment

At the end of the day, Intel should therefore most officially launch its first dedicated GPU with video game enthusiasts in its sights. However, it will not be the most muscular of GPUs, even if we focus on the portable market alone. gaming.

For this first salvo, Intel seems content with the Arc 3 series, ie the A350M and A370M GPUs. Clearly presented as Intel’s entry-level GPU, these chips are based on the ACM-G11 SoC and both have an architecture using 8 Xe-Cores.

However, the A370M integrates a complete chip when two cores are disabled on the A350M. Inevitably, the latter has fewer execution units (96 against 128) or FP32 cores (768 against 1,024). However, the amount of video memory is identical (4 GB of GDDR6) and the interface bus remains the same (64-bit).

Arc 5 and Arc 7 in the summer, the rest… later?

The two Arc 3 series GPUs are also characterized by a relatively low TDP (25/35 W for the A350M and 35/50 W for the A370M), which should logically not be the case for the GPUs planned a few weeks later.

In a second step, Intel actually plans to launch the Arc 5 and Arc 7 series with at least three cards: the A770M, A730M and A550M. It will however be necessary to be patient since, according to Videocardzthis second salvo should not land before the summer of 2022, at best therefore at the end of June.

There, the GPUs will be composed of 16, 24 or 32 Xe-Cores depending on the model, even if they are all based on the same SoC, the ACM-G10. Logically, the number of execution units also varies (256, 384 or 512) as well as the number of FP32 cores (2048, 3072 or 4096).

A rise in power which is also observed on the amount of onboard video memory (8, 12 or 16 GB of GDDR6) and on the interface bus (128, 192 or 256-bit). Finally, of course, the TDP increases depending on whether we are talking about the A550M (60/80 W), the A730M (80/120 W) or the A770M (120/150 W).

We bet that the manufacturers of gaming laptops will soon present their first integrations to us, but we are still waiting for Intel to decide to talk to us about graphics cards. desktop.
