As surprising as it may seem, there seems to be room for a processor with only two cores in 2023.

It is, of course, still a bit early to talk about information in the strict sense of the term, but it is undoubtedly a rumor that we did not see coming from Intel.

A two-core/four-thread Raptor Lake

Relaying the words of a specialist in leaks, a certain chi11eddog, our colleagues from VideoCardz report a chip that is still unseen on Intel’s Raptor Lake line-up.

Until now and contrary to what it had done on Alder Lake, Intel only had processors with at least four cores on this 13th generation. “Had”, because the rumor of the day concerns precisely a supposed “Intel 300” which would complete the Raptor Lake offer.

Indeed, the processor in question would stall just below the Core i3-14100 and Core i3-14100F which were the least powerful Raptor Lake chips with their four cores and eight threads.

A TDP of 46 watts

On the Alder Lake generation, the Core i3-13100 and Core i3-13100F could count on the Pentium Gold G7400 to “cover their backs”. The chip was content with two cores / four threads and signed a TDP of only 46 watts against 89 watts for the Core i3.

It seems to be the same on Raptor Lake with this Intel 300 as the announced successor to the Pentium Gold G7400. We find the two cores and the four threads as well as the operating frequency down compared to the Core i3. We especially find this same differential in the TDP which still seems to be stalled on 46 watts against 89 Watts for the Core i3.

If the baptismal name of this Intel 300 may seem surprising, we no longer swear by Intel nomenclatures. We are therefore wisely awaiting confirmation from the American firm, which should also soon announce the price of this chip, which is scheduled for release this quarter.
