Interim solution – antigen tests still possible in test centers

New federal requirements for corona tests will apply from Friday. Five rapid antigen tests and five PCR tests per month are available free of charge per person. However, the rapid antigen tests delivered via pharmacies will not be available until April 9th. The country is now offering an interim solution.

Burgenland has defined the following strategy: The “Gurgling at home” campaign will continue for the time being. Everyone who has registered online will receive five free PCR tests per month. They remain available in Spar supermarkets and pharmacies. For people without internet access, there is a PCR test offer in the vaccination and test centers (BITZ). This is still being negotiated with the pharmacies. As a temporary solution, BITZ is also offering free rapid antigen tests until April 9th. “It is important to us to create planning security for the population,” said Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ). However, the BITZ are relocating in part: testing can be carried out from Friday in the Frauenkirchen Roads Department, in containers at the Eisenstadt, Oberwart and Güssing hospitals as well at the Müllendorf multi-purpose hall and the previous locations in Mattersburg and Neutal. It remains to be seen how many will accept the new test offer: There was hardly anything going on in the BITZ Mattersburg on Thursday, as a “Krone” local inspection showed. A month ago there were long queues in front of both the test and vaccination areas, but on Thursday there was a yawning emptiness. There were almost no waiting times for tests and vaccinations. The Red Cross has already started dismantling the BITZ, and the new operator will rebuild its own facility.
