WHEN THE MAFIA COME INTO THE KITCHEN

After the success of Trauma, I killed my husband and Marion, 13th Street returns with a new original series, Internal cuisine, a thriller in the world of haute cuisine.

Directed by Louis Farge from a screenplay by Lucie Moreau, Camille Treiner and Thibault Vanhulle, this six-part series follows the adventures of Adriana, a young Franco-Senegalese chef who dreams of winning a Michelin star. But his dream is quickly thwarted by Gunther, his disreputable associate, who hosts an illegal poker game organized by Jeff and Angèle Rubens in the restaurant’s basement on opening day.

Then begins a descent into hell for Adriana who does not yet know that she has just brought the wolf into the sheepfold. On the very evening of the inauguration, two armed individuals burst into the Ballast to hold up the customers as well as the money from the poker game.

Witness and then accomplice in their criminal activities, Adrianna will have to join forces with Jeff and Angèle Rubens who not only run the underground gambling club but who have also taken control of the Ballast. While the mafia invites itself into her kitchens, Adriana remains determined to make her dream come true. To regain control over her life, she will have to fight and make this constraint her chance to succeed.

Alongside Annabelle Lengronne, elected “Revelation” at the César 2021 and named César for best hope for La Fine Équipe in 2017, we find Mély Bourjac, Vincent Heneine, Malyka R.Johany, Lucas Englander, Bastien Bernini and Amaury de Crayencour. All together, they form a talented cast that immerses us wonderfully in this slightly crazy story between gangsters and Parisian gastronomy.

Because it is indeed all the originality of Internal cuisine that to immerse us in both the universe of the thriller and that of the kitchen. If it may seem incongruous at first glance, come to think of it, these ruthless worlds of competition, machismo and conservative values are not so far away. In the end, the series manages to retain the most captivating of each of these universes to deliver something that works.

How do you get a corpse out of a restaurant when the police are watching the scene? How to get a Michelin star when your restaurant has a gambling den? Sometimes dark, sometimes quirky, Internal Kitchen undeniably ticks all the boxes to seduce the public.
