The day of Friday March 8, 2024 will remain forever engraved in the history of France. On this international women’s rights day, the Élysée organized a major ceremony on Place Vendôme in Paris, in order to definitively seal the registration of the voluntary termination of pregnancy (IVG) in the French Constitution. For the record, French parliamentarians had met in Versailles four days earlier to ratify this historic decision, thus making France the first country to include abortion in its Constitution. On the occasion of this great ceremony, many personalities went to Place Vendôme.
Among the latter, we can notably cite the singer Catherine Ringer, which stood out in more than one way. Indeed, former member of the group Rita Mitsouko was invited on stage to sing the French national anthem. However, the musician has somewhat modified the lyrics of The Marseillaise for the occasion.
