Intervene without hesitation – girl (11) is honored as a courageous first responder

Lara (11) found an older man lying on the sidewalk with his face covered in blood. The woman from Grödiger immediately recognized the dangerous situation, intervened courageously and without fear of contact and set the rescue chain in motion.

At the beginning of November, eleven-year-old Lara was riding her bike home from friends in Anif when she saw an older man lying on the path with his face covered in blood. He had fallen while walking with his partner and seriously injured his head. Lara immediately stopped and started the rescue chain without hesitation. “I was so relieved when she stopped and offered to help us. Twilight had already set in and a cold wind was blowing,” said Inge Z., the accident victim’s partner. The student was now even recognized by the Red Cross for her courageous efforts. For Lara, the quick intervention was self-evident: “I was pretty excited , because it was the first time I had to call the police to help someone. But for me it’s actually completely normal to help others,” said the student.
