Intervention indicated – passers-by locate “natural crime” in the middle of the Gurgltal

A walk in the cool May breeze in the “natural jewel” Gurgltal heated up so many hearts at the weekend: A completely plowed field, obviously with heavy equipment. The landowner, however, cannot understand the excitement. He only enriched the field with primary rock flour for a good future potato harvest. The BH, however, sees a violation.

The Gurgltal between Imst and Nassereith is often referred to flatteringly as a “natural jewel”. It is therefore not surprising that strollers react sensitively to changes. One “change” is currently triggering outrage: a field next to the Gurglbach near Strad has apparently been completely turned over. “In the Gurgltal there is a lot of hustle and bustle when it comes to environmental devastation,” wrote a passer-by to the “Krone” editorial team, saying that this meter-high filling of a meadow is hardly imaginable. The muddy material would also stink terribly. “Several citizens have already made me aware of the encroachment on nature,” says the Tarrenz BM Stefan Rueland, “to my knowledge, the BH is also aware of the situation”.

“Only the soil is enriched with primary rock dust”
The local owner is completely surprised: “I have so far grown maize here and am preparing the field for future potato cultivation. Since there are too few minerals in the soil for this, I first enriched it with primary rock flour, which should neutralize the acidic peat soil. ”The farmer already admits that heavy equipment such as a wheel loader was used and also a“ cultivar harrow “, But there is no other way. He had received professional advice, and the state of Tyrol was also okay.

No repacking was allowed
However, the environmental department at BH Imst sees it completely differently. “Yes, it has been reported to us and we have dealt with the case,” confirms District Chief Eva Loidhold. According to the natural history expert opinion, the legal, i.e. the previous state, must be restored. “How is that supposed to work?” Asks the owner and reveals his plans to the “Krone”: “Now the area will be sown with a seed mixture and worked two or three times over the next three years.” Then the soil would be ready for ” super potatoes ”.
