INTERVIEW. Kathy Packianathan (Camping Paradis, Here it all begins): “Defending a culture through a role is very cool”

On the occasion of her participation in Camping Paradis (TF1, 9:10 p.m.), Télé Star interviews Kathy Packianathan, who also plays Deva in Here it all begins. The actress recounts her experience alongside Laurent Ournac and teases the future of her character in the soap opera…

Télé Star: How did the filming of Camping Paradise with Laurent Ournac?

Kathy Packianathan: Very well. The weather was nice there in the south and the place was superb. The team was very cool. I didn’t know anyone but everyone was warm. Everything went very well and quite naturally.

Tell us the story of this episode and describe your character…

Leela is a princess who wants to live like all young people, which her condition does not allow her. She longs for more freedoms and it is in this campsite that she finds her… Leela will fall in love and this will create a lot of upheavals because, in her life as a princess, this is not what is intended for him. She will try to change her life by making decisions for herself.

The traditional costumes and sets are superb!

It was very nice because I don’t often wear this type of clothes. Defending a beautiful culture through a role is very cool.

get away fromHere it all starts did it do you any good?

In fact, I turned Camping Paradise before joining ITC !

You’ve been on the soap opera for a year. What conclusions do you draw from this experience?

It has been a rather exceptional year, enriching and full of great encounters.

Deva was just fired from the Institute.…but is it good forever?

I can only tell you that he is a character who fights and does not let go! (laughs) She has Souleymane (Dembo Camilo, editor’s note), her friends, her passion for cooking… So inevitably, she’s going to want to struggle to stay!

Where is Deva’s complicated romantic relationship with Souleymane?

Their relationship is complicated, as you say… but it will evolve! The story is not over between them and you will see where they will go together.

Do you understand Deva’s attachment to her family’s traditions?

I’m quite different from her, although we also have some similarities. I can understand his attachment because I am attached to the culture passed on to me by my family. Everyone has their own beliefs, it’s personal. In any case, I wouldn’t say that I share all of Deva’s convictions.

Do you imagine yourself still a long time in Here it all starts ?

I am happy with the evolution of Deva. I like his positions and words. For the moment, I’m very well here so I don’t think about it ending (laughs) I prefer to think about his progression and his progress.
