INTERVIEW. Keiona (Dancing with the Stars): “I’m coming to extinguish the competition”

Candidate for this 13th edition of Dancing with the Stars, Keiona, the winner of Drag Race France, intends to cause a sensation on the dance floor this Friday, February 23. She speaks to Télé Star.

We knew her as a competitor and that’s how we find her. She is Keiona, the winner of the second season of Drag Race France. What give him the taste of victory? In any case, she intends to repeat the feat, or at least go as far as possible in the adventure Dance with the stars – which Camille Combal kicked off this Friday, February 16. After carefully observing its competitors, this Friday February 23, Keiona will finally hit the dance floor. And she has an ace up her sleeve: her dance partner. The one who will walk the DALS floor as a drag queen is in fact teaming up with a former winner, namely Maxime Dereymez. Meeting with a candidate who is there to fight it out.

Télé Star: Did you immediately agree to join the cast of Dance with the stars ?

Keiona: When I was offered Dance with the stars, I had a little time to think. But I didn’t really hesitate. I really liked the premise of the show. I have been dancing since I was very young. In all humility, I’m doing pretty well and I really want to seduce the judges in ballroom dancing. So even if I didn’t respond immediately, it was obvious to accept.

Keiona: “I want to do better than the other Dancing with the Stars candidates”

Between being comfortable on stage and knowing how to dance, do you start with an advantage?

Honestly Yes. I can’t deny that it’s a plus. I have a good rhythm, an ear for music and I can be a source of suggestions for choreographies. I’m flexible, I can do the splits so these are things we can use to our advantage. I’m also really looking forward to seeing how I can showcase myself and our relationship and shut out the competition, absolutely. It would be a pleasure to turn off people I’m a fan of (laughs).

Unlike many, you are therefore not in competition with yourselves but rather with the other candidates?

The competition with myself was Drag Race. I did it for me. It was very cathartic. This is a fairly sporting competition so we really go there to do better than the others. We are not going to hide our faces from this

These Dancing with the Stars candidates that Keiona fears

Do you fear certain candidates?

Yes of course. You have to be wary of still water. I don’t trust Cristina [Cordula, ndlr]by Adeline [Toniutti, ndlr]by James Denton and his casual seductive side as well as by Diane [Leyre, ndlr]. She is very beautiful, very kind, very smiling but she hides her game well, I’m sure. I’m going to have to work harder.

Do you have any fears about the competition?

First of all, I don’t want to fall (laughs). More seriously, yes, let go, give control to the partner and trust them. I will have to understand that it is not up to me to lead, that it is not me who teaches the course. But I will try to be the best student possible. And every dance will be new for me. I’ve never done this before so I’ll have to learn them… Except I love excellence. I’m going to put some pressure on myself.
