INTERVIEW – Laurie Cholewa’s Christmas: “My best memory? The year I gave birth to my daughter »

At a time when homes have put up their Christmas trees and the holidays are just around the corner, let’s take the time to spend a few minutes with a personality. For this end of the year, Gala.fr asked several stars to talk about Christmas. A souvenir, a gift… Let’s forget the time for an interview this year which was rich in emotions. Laurie Cholewain command of Tchi Tcha on Canal + and clap on Europe 1, agreed to take part in the Christmas interview with Gala.fr.

Gala.fr: Has Santa Claus ever disappointed you?
Laurie Cholewa
: Oh, that must have happened. I must have already had not quite the gifts that corresponded to my ideal “wish list”.

Gala.fr: This year, what does your Christmas list consist of?
Laurie Cholewa
: Honestly, for the moment, I have mainly looked at the list of my children. It’s complicated because they cut out the entire La Grande Récré catalog, so the letter to Santa Claus is in fact a package of photos for Santa Claus. I haven’t had time to think about myself yet. I have a few ideas but, for the moment, I haven’t made my list.

Gala.fr: For a Christmas meal, what is the essential food?
Laurie Cholewa
: The log ! For my children, I would say chestnuts. They don’t care about turkey, but they can get indigestion from chestnuts, no problem! (Laughs)

Gala.fr: The kitsch Christmas sweater, are you for or against it?
Laurie Cholewa
: I am completely for it, I even buy several of several versions. My husband can’t take it anymore, because he has to take the traditional photo in front of the tree with the kitsch Christmas sweater and often, there is the dressed-up photo and the photo with the Christmas pajamas. If we celebrate Christmas on vacation, I take everything in the suitcase and I make the same sweater for the children. I’m really the right customer for Christmas!

Gala.fr: What is your favorite Christmas song?
Laurie Cholewa
: “All I Want For Christmas Is You” by Maria Carey is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I love hearing it because it means we’re approaching the Christmas holidays. But then, we have some very beautiful French songs. With my children, we put on little Christmas playlists, we listen to “White Christmas”, “Let It Snow”, “Petit Papa Noël”… We have quite a few.

Gala.fr: What is the Christmas memory that is anchored in you?
Laurie Cholewa
: My best Christmas was Christmas 2018. In fact, I gave birth on December 27th so at Christmas, I was pregnant to the neck, I was expecting my daughter. It was pretty imminent and I still took my photo with my kitsch Christmas sweater while pregnant in front of my tree! But it was really a special Christmas, because before, we weren’t necessarily in Paris at Christmas time, here we were in Paris, we had decorated the apartment, we had the room ready, and I ‘expected to give birth at any moment. It was truly a beautiful Christmas.

Gala.fr: Is the Christmas tree installed on December 1st or… on the wire, just before Christmas?
Laurie Cholewa
: The Advent calendars, they are already purchased before, my children are patiently waiting for December 1st, although my daughter has already opened her entire Barbie calendar… But otherwise yes, we are trying to do that for December 1st. At the end of November, there are decorations everywhere in my house, there is Santa’s mailbox, there are little teddy bears singing “Jingle Bells”, there are Nutcrackers, there are Reindeer. .. We plan everything with my husband: Santa’s footsteps, the cookie, the milk… It allows you to rediscover all that magic of Christmas.

Gala.fr: Does having children allow you to rediscover the Christmas spirit?
Laurie Cholewa
: I waited a long time to have children so that Christmas could regain its full meaning. Before, it was more of a celebration that made me sad, because I lost my father, I have a small family, so it was a bit of a difficult moment to go through. Since I have had children, I have taken full advantage of them. I completely rediscovered my childish soul. When I was little, it completely made me dream so yes, the fact of having children and being able to make them dream during the few years that I have, I am very happy. Anything related to Christmas, I buy! I feed them with all the imagination around Christmas.

Gala.fr: What is the best gift we could give you?
Laurie Cholewa
: I lost my father early so I know what it’s like to spend Christmas with people who we miss and therefore every Christmas I spend with my children, my mother, my brother, my husband, just that, it’s a great gift.

Gala.fr: After Christmas, it’s the transition to the new year. How do you view 2024?
Laurie Cholewa
: Honestly quite good, I have quite a few projects, work and others. I had children very close together so I’m still getting out of the rather difficult period, very young children. They are 3 and 5 years old now, so I’m happy, because I can do lots of things without being too exhausted. I’m rather looking forward to 2024 and above all, I can’t wait for us to write off this year 2023 which ends on such a hopeless note given current events. Besides, I think a lot about all these children who are far from home or who are suffering at the moment. So I say to myself if 2024 could sweep away all that and bring us better things, that’s not bad.
