Two teenagers were taken into custody after the intrusion Thursday morning into a high school in Angoulême. A student was sprayed with tear gas and a physical education teacher was also hit while trying to intervene. The prosecution evokes a possible “settling of scores”.

Two teenagers were taken into police custody after the intrusion Thursday morning into a high school in Angoulême, the prosecutor’s office said on Friday, which evokes a possible “settling of scores” with the student whom they sprayed with a tear gas canister.

“The victim teacher was not targeted”

A physical education and sports teacher had also received a blow while trying to intervene, but “according to them, the victim teacher was absolutely not targeted”, specifies the Angoulême prosecutor, Stéphanie Aouine, in a communicated. Neither of the two young men, aged 15 and 17, was attending the high school in question and the older of the two was “placed under judicial supervision in the context of a previous case for similar facts”, adds the magistrate. .

“The first elements and statements collected make it possible to confirm their involvement in the events that occurred in the establishment and to explain it by a logic of ‘settling of scores’ with regard to the minor victim targeted by the tear gas bomb”, she emphasizes. Friday, “the police services were called upon to intervene on two new occasions for attacks or brawls” in front of two establishments in the suburbs of Angoulême, but “at this stage, no formal link has been established with the attacks” on Thursday, the prosecution further indicates.

Five minors were placed in police custody for acts of “group violence” after “a brawl between young people” in front of a high school in Soyaux and a 16-year-old boy was injured in the scalp by several individuals who used a “weapon that could be a baton” in front of an establishment in Ruelle-sur-Touvre, the same source specifies.
