Inventing Anna: Who is the real Chase, Anna Delvey’s companion?

Since its release, Inventing Anna fascinates Internet users! Netflix’s new series, produced by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Murder, Scandal, The Bridgerton Chronicle…) tells the true story of a woman, Anna Delvey, who posed as a wealthy Russian heiress and seduced the New York upper class to live off them.

But in the series, Anna has a boyfriend Chase, who appears during a TED Talk. The character would indeed have invented an application intervening in the field of dreams. And if Anna does exist, since she sold her rights for an astronomical sum to Netflix, is the boyfriend real? The question is open, but Internet users have conducted a small investigation. And two profiles stand out!

In the article that inspired the series, released in 2018, the journalist mentioned a boyfriend without saying more. However, she had subsequently evoked a man truly present at this TED Talk and distinguished by the New Yorker. The research was then refined and some Internet users found similarities between “Chase” and David Shing, a marketing employee at AOL who had the same kind of project as the fictional character.

But others are convinced that Chase is a completely different person: Korean-American Hunter Lee-Soik. This one has indeed invented an application to analyze his dreams and ticks all the boxes. In addition, he knows the real Anna, since she tagged him in an Instagram photo of vacation … in Ibiza, an island where lovers of the series go regularly.
