In 2016, in a Parisian café, Hubert Avoine displayed a host of documents in front of Emmanuel Fansten demonstrating his involvement in illegal activities carried out on behalf of the police. After several weeks of investigation, the journalist from Release discovers that the chief of the Central Office for the Fight against Illicit Drug Trafficking (Ocrtis), Commissioner François Thierry, has favored the importation of several tons of drugs into French territory. Dozens of articles will follow.

A few years later, this story inspired director Thierry de Peretti for the film State Scandal Investigation, released in theaters on February 9. Our journalist becomes Stéphane Vilner and is interpreted by Pio Marmaï.

In the video above, Emmanuel Fansten recounts how he uncovered this massive trafficking that allowed successive interior ministers to strut their stuff in front of massive drug seizures.
