investigation into Pravfond, the Kremlin’s discreet slush fund

On paper, the Russian Pravfond foundation could almost pass for a charitable organization. On its website, it describes itself as an organization designed primarily to provide “targeted legal aid to compatriots and human rights organizations”. In reality, its role is much more important.

Around forty internal Pravfond documents, obtained by DR, Denmark’s public broadcaster, from a source within a European intelligence service, and shared with The world and several European media, shed light on the functioning of this organization.

Once analyzed and authenticated, the activity reports and minutes show that the foundation is populated by former members of the Russian intelligence services and that it was used to finance operations for the benefit of Russia and its spies, in the heart of Europe.
