But at this moment, Brigitte Macron took the liberty of kissingNicholas Sarkozy. An embrace that may seem innocuous, but ultimately quite surprising because for almost all the other people she greeted, the First Lady sent a simple handshake. A sequence that challenged viewers and journalists.
“The only hug I could see was the one shared by Brigitte Macron and Nicolas Sarkozy, the rest are just handshakes”, for example, noted the journalist from France 2, Nathalie Saint-Cricq. An observation shared by Valérie Trierweiler, also present on the set of the show. “Ten years ago, I had been reproached a great deal for having greeted people, for shaking hands. I was told that it was not done in the protocol and that I should have stayed behind. And there, I see that Brigitte Macron shakes hands and kisses, so maybe I opened a way”said the ex-girlfriend of François Hollande.

On TF1, Gilles Bouleau indicated that “these two have a connection”. “A personal and political bond”, said one of his guests, before adding: “Brigitte Macron has never hidden from having voted Nicolas Sarkozy for the past, and from being herself, in a personal capacity, rather from a tradition of the right more than a socialist“. Brigitte Macron and Nicolas Sarkozy would even be “regularly in touch”. They never fail to see each other frequently, accompanied by their respective husbands.
