In 2021, the new adult superhero series “Invincible,” animated by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman, hit Amazon Prime Video and delighted critics and fans. In order to further expand this success, Amazon has renewed the series for a second and third season. After it was quiet about the sequel for a long time, there are now new updates.

Invincible Season 2: Start Date

There was silence about the sequel to “Invincible” for a long time. The first season started in March 2021. All that was said afterwards was that production was further along than many would assume. But instead of the new episodes starting in 2022, we had to wait over two years for more and didn’t even get the full number of episodes.

The first four episodes were released in November 2023, now it is clear when we will see the remaining episodes of season 2. The time will come on March 14, 2024. The new episodes are published weekly on Thursdays.

Invincible Season 2: Trailer

A new trailer for season 2 of “Invincible” was released at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. This gives us a little insight into the coming episodes. We are also introduced to the star-studded cast of the new season.

Invincible Season 2: Plot

Title character Mark Grayson aka Invincible will continue to struggle with the harsh realities of life as a superhero in season 2 of the superhero series. His berserker attacks are also likely to pose problems for Mark in the coming issues.

His mother Debbie (voice Sandra Oh) fell into depression and alcoholism after realizing that her husband Nolan Grayson aka Omni-Man (JK Simmons) had killed the original Guardians of the Globe.

Invincible Season 2: Production and Cast

Amazon is extending the comic adaptation for a second and third season, which shows the streaming service’s great confidence in the future success and longevity of the show. Comic and series creator Robert Kirkman officially announced the happy news of the extension in a (certainly staged) video call with speaker and series star Yeun via Twitter:

To date, it can be assumed that all voice actors will return for seasons 2 and 3 of “Invincible”. Steven Yeun (Mark Grayson), Sandra Oh (Debbie Grayson), JK Simmons (Nolan Grayson / Omni-Man), Gillian Jacobs (Atom Eve), Zachary Quinto (Robot), Walton Goggins (Cecil Stedman), Khary Payton (Black Samson ) and Co. will be there again.

However, further information about the cast and production has been kept well under wraps so far. It was only at the beginning of January 2022 that spokesman and “The Walkind Dead” star Steven Yeun revealed that production had not yet started. But then the showrunner of the series, Simon Racioppa, revealed that production was more advanced than many people think.

“A lot of people assume that we’ve just started,” Racioppa explained in an interview with the online magazine ComicBookMovie. “But that’s not true. We’ve been working on it for a while. It’s a big show and it takes time to get it right.”

“We are still in the pandemic,” adds the showrunner, but he hopes to soon overcome the resulting restrictions. Simon Racioppa also wishes that the new episodes were already finished. “We’re in deep; I’ll be working again this afternoon […] ‘Invincible'”.

Black Samson voice actor Khary Payton also spoke about his role in the superhero series and the progress of work on “Invincible” Season 3 in an interview with the YouTube channel The Movie Dweeb. The actor revealed that the cast members are already busy making voice recordings for season 3.

To explain why an exact start date for Season 2 is still a long time coming, the actor also provided the statement that COVID and overwhelmed animation studios are the reason for the ongoing delay. However, Payton’s update now gives hope that at least we won’t have to wait as long for season 3.
