IO Hawk E1 and E2: Two new e-bikes at a fair price are rolling out

E-board manufacturer IO Hawk is launching its first two e-bikes for off-road and urban use. They should convince with strong and solid technology at a good price.

The IO Hawk company is known as one of the first manufacturers of e-boards ("hoverboards"). In the tests by n-tv.de, the devices turned out to be very safe and reliable, which is why the manufacturer's announcement that it will be launching two new e-bikes at attractive prices as early as August attracts attention. The IO Hawk E1 is a cross model, the E2 a city bike.

The aluminum wheels, which weigh 24 or 23 kilograms, are largely identical, but the E1 has 26-inch alloy wheels, while the spokes of the other IO Hawk bike rotate. In addition, the cross bike has a little more power. The 250 watt motor is fed by a 36 volt battery with a capacity of 504 watt hours (Wh) at 14 ampere hours (Ah). This means that the e-bike should have a range of up to 140 kilometers. With the E2, a battery with 375 Wh and 10.4 Ah is attached to the frame, IO Hawk specifies the maximum range here as 110 kilometers.

Standard equipment, high discount

A 7-speed gearshift from Shimano is responsible for power transmission. At the push of a button, the e-bike accelerates independently up to 6 kilometers per hour, the pedal assistant supports the cyclist up to the maximum permitted speed of 25 kilometers per hour. In addition, the E1 and E2 are equipped with a 3-inch LCD that shows, among other things, speed, kilometers traveled or the time. In addition, users can put their smartphone in a universal holder and supply it with power via the cable via the USB input of the battery.

The two IO Hawk e-bikes will go on sale in August for 1,300 and 1,200 euros. Pre-orders will get the bikes 300 euros cheaper until July 25th. In the coming weeks, n-tv.de will test how well the devices of the e-bike newcomer perform in everyday life.
