iOS 15.2.1: what does this new version bring for iPhone?

A security flaw to be corrected quickly

This version fixes a security flaw discovered in the HomeKit protocol, which caused quite serious inconvenience.

The bug allowed attackers to force an iPhone or iPad to crash and freeze repeatedly by changing the name of a HomeKit-enabled device to include more than 500,000 characters. Since iOS saves the names of HomeKit devices in iCloud, iOS users found themselves stuck in an endless loop of crashes.

Security researcher Trevor Spiniolas discovered the security flaw and disclosed it publicly on January 1, 2022. A priori, and according to Spiniolas, he had previously informed Apple in August 2021. Apple has reportedly planned to correct the vulnerability before the end of 2021, but then postponed the correction to early 2022.

Also this bug is present in iOS 14. In other words, if you have waited before installing iOS 15, it is time to update your Apple devices.
