iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 focus on Apple Pay and Apple Podcasts

Apple released iOS 15.5 for the iPhone and iPadOS 15.5 for the iPad on Monday. If they have few new features, however, it is better to install them to ensure that you are running the latest version of the software, which usually includes security fixes and improvements that are not in the changelog.

Some improvements on iOS

For the curious, the official changelog mentions the possibility for users of Apple Cash (service only available in the United States) to send or request money when they consult their Apple Cash card.

The Apple Podcasts app is now better at managing storage and keeping or getting rid of old podcast episodes.

Finally, HomeKit users will see fewer issues with home automations that trigger when people enter or leave.

Updates available on all devices

Along with the iPhone and iPad updates, Apple also released WatchOS 8.6.

Finally, MacOS 12.4 also went live on Monday, bringing with it support for the new Podcasts storage feature the iPhone received, as well as a fix for Apple’s Studio Display and its built-in camera. Specifically, the changelog reads that “Support for Studio Display Firmware Update 15.5, available as a separate update, refines camera tuning, including improving noise reduction, contrast and framing”.

Apple has yet to update its security page to list vulnerabilities that may have been patched in Monday’s updates.
