iOS 15.5: Apple’s minor update is available

Apple released an update to its mobile OS this week. If there are no big news in sight, it has some interesting comfort elements.

Apple is continuing its iOS version 15 update cycle ahead of a version 16 that could be showcased at WWDC 2022 from June 6-10. While version 15.4 brought new features, 15.5 is content to add a little comfort to certain apps, but above all to prepare for future updates.

In terms of ease of use, we note the update of the Podcasts app. It is now possible for users to better control their consumption of storage space by defining an emission quota to keep. If exceeded, the oldest will be replaced by the most recent, avoiding the “cleaning chore” for the user.

Continuing with the theme of convenience, Apple Cash users will be able to directly send or receive money with the tap of a button. An additional update released on Monday May 16 also allows this function to be used in the Wallet application.

As for the rest of the updates, we can mention:

  • The removal of certain sensitive places (related to the Second World War) from the “recommended memories” of the Photos app.
  • The renaming of iTunes Pass to Apple Balance.
  • Adding baseball to SportsKit.

Also note that references to Apple Classic, a classical music streaming catalog expected after the takeover of Primephonic, were seen in the beta version of iOS 15.5, but no trace of such an application in the final version.

Along with iOS, Apple updated iPadOS to version 15.5. To download this new version, simply go to the Settings app, General section, then Software update.
