If you’re the proud owner of an iPhone, your smartphone’s ringtone might make you cringe. You just don’t like the melody and rhythm of Apple’s ringtone. Or you’re tired of hearing that same ringtone around you with all the other people who are also using an iPhone. To distinguish yourself from others, it may then be necessary to have a personalized ringtone that will allow you to clearly distinguish yourself from others.
Of course, Apple has a huge set of default ringtones included with the iPhone. And it is also possible to go to iTunes to choose part of your favorite song as the main ringtone. But if you really want to stand out from the crowd, it’s also possible to create a totally unique ringtone that no other iPhone user will ever be able to own in their lifetime. For this, you can create your own ringtone easily and in a few clicks. Here you have two very simple options. And we’ll show you how to do it.
How to customize your iPhone ringtone with your Mac
To customize your iPhone ringtone, two options are available to you. For the first option, you can perform the operation from your Mac and using a Lightning to USB cable to connect your iPhone to it. You will need GarageBand to export a file in AAC format before renaming it to m4r. You can also have fun with the different parameters and instruments of the application to create a track to your liking, but be careful and favor a relatively short piece, of maximum 30 seconds. In detail, here are the successive operations that you must perform:
- Execute a right click on your ringtone file and rename it, passing precisely from “. m4a” to “. m4r » (this will allow the iPhone to recognize it as a ringtone file).
- Take yours lightning to usb cable and connect your iPhone to your Mac.
- Select your iPhone from the Finder.
- Then drag the ringtone file onto the Finder window.
- Once the file has been transferred you can access your new ringtone on your iPhone
- Then open the Settings tab and select Sound and haptics
- Press on Alarm and you can finally select your custom ringtone
How to customize your iPhone ringtone with GarageBand
For this second method, you can directly use GarageBand on your iPhone and thus create your new ringtone only using your Apple smartphone. Once you’ve finished creating in GarageBand, you can then go to the project browser.
Here you just need to hold the file to find the share menu and simply follow the rest of the process to create your brand new ringtone. You will then be perfectly equipped with your new ringtone and no one will have the same one as you.
