A few days after formalizing iOS 16, Apple is the target of many faithful, who do not hesitate to express their dissatisfaction.

In question ? The iPhone 7 generation, which will not be supported.

iOS 16 turns its back on the iPhone 7

A few days ago, Apple formalized the brand new iOS 16, the new generation mobile operating system which will be launched at the end of the year. An OS that will animate the new iPhone 14 of course, but which can also be installed on many iPhones already available. Like every year, Apple had to choose ” sacrifice » certain models, this is particularly the case for the iPhone 7 generation.

Indeed, if it was expected that the new iOS 16 will abandon the iPhone 6S generation, many users have noticed that their iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus will not be compatible with the upcoming update, and will have to therefore stick to iOS 15. A difficult decision to understand for some, the iPhone 7 being powered by an A10 Fusion chip, like some generations of iPad… yet well supported by iPad OS 16. As a reminder , the iPhone 7 generation was launched in September 2016, almost six years ago.

Remember in passing that some features specific to iOS 16 will only be available on iPhones powered by an A12 Bionic chip (and higher models). Thus, if it will be possible to install iOS 16 on an iPhone 8 or an iPhone X, the latter will not allow access to all the features offered by the new OS.
