The latest operating system updateiPhone is available but it will still take a few weeks to see some features.

After three months of beta, the final version of iOS 16 is available for download since Monday, September 12.

iOS 16 is finally available: it’s up to you to create your best locked screens

As a reminder, iOS 16 introduces a few new features, starting with a brand new fully customizable lock screen. Apple now offers to change the font of the time, to add widgets, but also to use all of your photos to create new screens according to each moment of the day. If you want to know more, we have listed all the options to customize your lock screen in iOS 16.

iOS 16 also offers some new options such as the possibility of deleting a message or modifying it in iMessage, a new interface in the Home application, a significant improvement in voice dictation or even support for Passkeys, the first attempt to Apple to replace passwords.

iOS 16 is available on iPhone 8 and above. The many iPhone 7 users will not be able to upgrade to the new version this year, as Apple dropped support for this smartphone dating back to 2016.

A few important new features are missing for the launch

If iOS 16 is a well-stocked update, this first public version is still missing a few features that Apple presented last June during WWDC 2022 and which will require a few more weeks of development to be finalized.

The shared photo library is one of those features missing. This new option will allow users to create a collection of photos automatically synchronized with their friends or family members. iOS 16 will also enable automatic sharing when members of the shared photo library are in the same place, in order to immediately find all the photos taken during a party or event.

The Live Activities are also absentee subscribers. These persistent notifications that allow you to follow the score of a match or the time remaining before the arrival of your VTC are taking a bit of a delay and should arrive with the iOS 16.1 version in a few weeks. The advantage is that third-party developers will have more time to take advantage of this functionality and could come up with their own Live Activities as soon as the update is released.

Among the other features not available at the moment, we can finally mention the integration of SharePlay with the Game Center, to play online and chat in video with friends, support for the Matter protocol, the development of which is still not finished or again the Freeform application which allows you to work in collaboration with your colleagues. The latter should also wait for the launch of a next iPad Pro, expected for the end of this year 2022.
