  • iOS 16 came out with the iPhone 14.
  • There are a lot of useful innovations.
  • However, a new keyboard setting reduces your battery life.

Apple has finally released the final version of iOS 16 and there are a lot of small and big changes. A useful innovation is a keyboard setting that enables haptic feedback when typing. According to Apple, this should improve the typing experience and avoid typing errors. But the function also has a disadvantage that cannot be ignored.

According to an Apple support article, enabling haptic tap feedback can decrease device battery life. The vibrations require some power each time and can therefore use up a few percent of the battery. How much battery charge is ultimately lost as a result is not clear, but a loss of up to 5 percent is not unrealistic.

You can easily enable or disable haptic feedback in your settings. We tell you how it works:

  • Opens the Settings app.
  • Then go to “Sounds and Haptics” and then select ”Keyboard Feedback”.
  • There you can then activate or deactivate both the sound and the haptics when typing.
