iOS 16 makes a breakthrough: Apple’s new system is a great success

The latest update to iOS 16 enjoys great popularity among iPhone users. As current numbers prove: In a direct time comparison with its predecessor, the youngest system has a considerable lead.

Success for Apple: iOS 16 is popular with users

Last year, the then new iOS 15 was only found on 19.3 percent of iPhones after 10 days. With iOS 16, on the other hand, acceptance looks a whole lot better. After just nine days since the release, 23.36 percent of users have already carried out the update (Source: Mixpanel via MacRumors). Although the older iOS 15 still accounts for the majority at 66.86 percent, the direction of adaptation is predetermined. Even older versions are in the clear minority at 9.32 percent.

Numbers that Apple can be happy about, even if they have not yet been confirmed by the manufacturer. Experience has shown that the Mixpanel experts are not wrong, and the values should be plausible in the end.

Worth mentioning: Apple is not yet forcing users to update. Alternatively, if you want, you can and may only install the latest iOS update to version 15.7. A procedure that the manufacturer also followed last year when switching from iOS 14 to iOS 15. Only later was there no way back, but until then Apple is patient.

What iOS 16 offers:

How does it go from here?

The update to iOS 16 offers many new features and functions. First of all, the new options for personalizing the lock screen certainly catch the eye. It can now also display widgets directly and much more. Nevertheless, Apple did not integrate all the features announced in the summer. Quite a few functions will only be integrated piece by piece later with further updates.

The first is iOS 16.1, which is currently in development. The major service update includes, among other things, support for Live Activities or Matter, the new smart home industry standard. A release is expected in October. Probably shortly after another Apple event, which has yet to be confirmed. Together with iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1 should appear for the iPads. They have to do without version 16.0 completely and only receive an update with the first service update.
