As promised by Apple, the firm has just deployed new versions of its operating systems.

Last month, the company led by Tim Cook published a major update for iOS 17 users. The Californian giant actually took advantage of the deployment of the iOS 17.1 update to release a large number of new features, but also to limit the waves emitted by the iPhone 12.

A few weeks later, iOS 17.1.1 and macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 are in turn available for download. Without further ado, let’s discover the changes made by these recent updates.

iOS 17: what’s new in the latest update?

Let’s put our feet straight: iOS 17.1 update does not bring any new features. But contrary to what one might imagine, it remains no less important. Despite the release of iOS 17.1 last month, numerous bugs and vulnerabilities remained within Apple’s operating system.

In addition to addressing security vulnerabilities on your iPhone, iOS 17.1.1 fixes a bug that affected the Weather widget on the lock screen. According to Apple, the latter could “ display snow events incorrectly “.

The company also tells us that this new version of iOS resolves another bug linked to Apple Pay and other NFC features on certain iPhone 15 models (this problem appeared after wireless charging in certain vehicles).

macOS Sonoma now supports M3 devices

As for macOS Sonoma 14.1.1, the content of the latest update is relatively similar to that of the iOS 17.1.1 update. But in addition to the usual bug and security fixes, the Apple brand has finally included support for the recently announced M3 Macs.

In other words, if you have a device incorporating an M3, M3 Pro or M3 Max chip, you will now be able to switch to the Sonoma update (which was impossible just a few days ago).

As you will have understood, no major changes to the program for these new updates proposed by the Cupertino company. We mainly find fixes aimed at improving the user experience and strengthening the security of the Apple ecosystem.

Apple iPhone 15

  • A design that gains in elegance
  • The disappearing notch
  • Ultra bright screen

The iPhone 15 does better than its predecessor, and on every level! Equipped with a superb, very bright screen (but still 60 Hz), finally free of its notch, it is already establishing itself as a wonderful traveling companion for years to come.

More versatile than ever in photography, thanks to its new sensor offering 2x digital zoom which was sorely lacking in previous models, it clearly overshadows the iPhone 15 Pro. However, keep in mind that autonomy is a real stone in the shoe of this model, which makes us prefer the iPhone 15 Plus this year. Despite everything, we appreciate the move to USB-C, even if the USB 2.0 standard is far too dated.

The fact remains that Apple is making all the right choices this year to bring its “standard” range up to speed, where the Pro models tended to take too big a lead in terms of design as well as in terms of performance.
