iOS 17.2 what's new in the iPhone update

If you have a iPhone running iOS 17, this is news that should reassure you somewhat.

Last week, Apple rolled out the update to iOS 17.2. In addition to having incorporated new possibilities for configuring the Action button of the iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max, the Apple brand also took the opportunity to add the Journal application and the capture of spatial videos.

If all these changes are obviously welcome, the Cupertino company has apparently refrained from saying the slightest word about any of the modifications made with this recent update.

iOS 17: when Flipper Zero attacks your iPhone

Last October, we discovered that iPhones running iOS 17 were the target of Flipper Zero. Under its name of a game console and its appearance of a plastic toy, this multifunctional, open-source and customizable tool actually has many hacking skills and functionalities. A flexibility which therefore makes it particularly formidable, to the point of having succeeded in crashing iPhones running the latest version of Apple’s operating system.

By downloading the Xtreme firmware to the Flipper Zero, it was then possible to cause a nearby iPhone to crash. If, until now, it was enough to disable Bluetooth on your device to bypass this attack, the latest iOS update now allows affected iPhones to be fully immune to Flipper Zero attacks.

A problem quietly corrected by Apple with iOS 17.2

As reported to us by the specialized site The Verge, Apple would have in fact corrected this vulnerability with the publication of iOS 17.2. If we use the conditional, it is for the simple reason that the American brand has surprisingly not confirmed anything about the deployment of such a patch during the publication of the last update.

That being said, the tests carried out by our colleagues at ZDNET And 9to5Mac clearly demonstrate that the Flipper Zero is now harmless against iPhones running the most recent version of iOS. Therefore, if you have not yet updated your iPhone, we strongly recommend that you do so without further delay.

Apple iPhone 15

  • A design that gains in elegance
  • The disappearing notch
  • Ultra bright screen

The iPhone 15 does better than its predecessor, and on every level! Equipped with a superb, very bright screen (but still 60 Hz), finally free of its notch, it is already establishing itself as a wonderful traveling companion for years to come.

More versatile than ever in photography, thanks to its new sensor offering 2x digital zoom which was sorely lacking in previous models, it clearly overshadows the iPhone 15 Pro. However, keep in mind that autonomy is a real stone in the shoe of this model, which makes us prefer the iPhone 15 Plus this year. Despite everything, we appreciate the move to USB-C, even if the USB 2.0 standard is far too dated.

The fact remains that Apple is making all the right choices this year to bring its “standard” range up to speed, where the Pro models tended to take too big a lead in terms of design as well as in terms of performance.
