The rollout of iOS 16.3 has already begun, and we have already reviewed the new features introduced by this recent update. In addition to the usual software fixes, this version notably enables support for security keys and the second generation HomePod, and improves features related to emergency calls and SOS. At the same time, the Cupertino company is already actively working on iOS 17, which should accompany the release of the iPhone 15 around September.

The HowtoiSolve site has already shared rumors about the new version of the OS. According to its source, deemed reliable, iOS 17 should not introduce major visual changes. We must therefore expect an interface similar to that currently available.

This new version should primarily focus on improving general stability. An announcement that is strangely reminiscent of the one that was made during the first indiscretions around… iOS 16.

Mixed reality in the viewfinder

The source specifies that the new OS will mainly support Reality Pro, Apple’s mixed reality headset which could be announced as early as June 2023. An application dedicated to the latter should see the light of day and will look like this which is already done for the Apple Watch. However, the site mentions “many more features”.

The Home app will also undergo changes “major”, and should be more ergonomic than before. Minor changes are also planned for the Mail, Cards, Form and Files applications. Navigation will also be easier for the Music application.

Dynamic Island for all

It looks like iOS 17 is designed to run on six Dynamic Island compatible devices. This is already the case with the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which seems to confirm that all iPhone 15 models will support this novelty and abandon the notch.

Parts of the code also confirm the presence of a USB-C port on the next four mobiles. But only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max would offer USB 3.2. The other two should be content with a transfer speed similar to the Lightning.

Finally, the iPhone 15 Pro Max could benefit from an image processing processor “more advanced” than that of the Pro model. Its more than generous dimensions should allow it to accommodate a more efficient cooling system than the standard Pro version.
