The beta versions of iOS 17 follow one another and reveal the main new features that await us between now and the final release, scheduled for the month of September.

One more month to wait before iOS 17! While the next iPhone should be presented, in all likelihood, around September 12, the next operating system should accompany their release and be offered in the wake of the keynote.

Contact posters disrupt the Phone app

It’s already been two months since iOS 17 entered its beta testing phase, and we’ve already had the opportunity to focus on most of the major new features of the next major update to the mobile operating system. If iOS 17 will not be an exceptional vintage, it nevertheless includes a number of improvements and features to facilitate your communications.

First of all, there are contact posters, these posters that allow you to personalize the way your file appears when you call a loved one. Apple offers many options to choose a photo of your own, modify it using filters, use a Memoji or even choose the color and font of your name. Still on contacts, iOS 17 will offer with NameDrop an easier way to share your contact card by bringing your iPhone closer to that of your contact. The transfer will be done automatically.

Consequence of these contact posters: Apple has changed the positioning of the option buttons during a call. Formerly in the middle of the screen, they are now at the bottom. The red button to hang up a call moved to the right of the screen, before Apple came to its senses and replaced it in the center of the display.

iOS 17 will also feature Sleep mode, when the phone is placed horizontally on a stand and charging. The objective is to display information during charging, such as the time, the program for the day, reminders or random photos. Quite handy if you charge your phone at the office or on your bedside table.

Dozens of more or less visible, but very useful adjustments

Among the improvements brought by iOS 17, we also retain the new drawer of applications in Messages, which changes form this year. The carousel gives way to a + button, and over the betas, Apple has improved a confusing presentation, adopting more recognizable icons at first glance.

Finally, we can mention pell-mell the arrival of offline maps for Apple Plans, the Check-In functionality to automatically notify one or more iMessage contacts when you have arrived at your destination, or the very practical functionality that deletes messages and emails containing SMS verification codes, which can quickly pollute your inboxes, not to mention the creation of stickers from your photos.
