Apple has just made its new iOS 17 update official.
Like every year, some so-called “old” iPhones will not be able to claim this new version of the mobile operating system signed Apple.

As part of its WWDC 2023 keynote held last night, the giant Apple has finally formalized its mixed reality headset, called Vision Pro. With its ski helmet tunes, the new device promises mountains and wonders to virtual reality lovers, provided they are willing to pay the 3,499 dollars claimed for its acquisition.
At the same time, the American giant also wanted to lift the veil on the brand new version of its operating system dedicated to iPhones: iOS 17. This major update, which will be available soon, promises many improvements, especially on Phone , FaceTime and Messages, not to mention changes for AirDrop, or even more extensive customization.
iOS 17, which iPhones are compatible?
Obviously, this new version of iOS will cover a large portion of the iPhone, but like every year, certain so-called “old” models will not be able to claim this new version. Thus, iOS 17 will be compatible with the following smartphones:
- iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 14 and 14 Plus
- iPhone SE (2022)
- iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max
- iPhone 13 and 13 mini
- iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max
- iPhone 12 and 12 mini
- iPhone SE (2020)
- iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max

- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone XR
You may have already guessed it, but the new iOS 17 will make a dent on the iPhone 8 generation, launched in 2017 and which will therefore no longer be able to evolve from a software point of view.
But the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are not the only ones to be ousted by the Cupertino company, since this is also the case with the iPhone X, launched the same year and which will be deprived of iOS 17. Apple, a device is called “old” after five years and becomes “obsolete” two years later.
