iPad Air: 12.9-inch model on track for launch in early 2024

For several months, different informants have agreed on one point: the arrival of an iPad Air equipped with a large 12.9-inch screen. Good news, deliveries of panels intended for this new model would have started in December, thus auguring a launch for the start of 2024.

A 12.9-inch iPad Air from March 2024?

Ross Young, a famous analyst specializing in the display supply chain, made an interesting revelation around iPads. In a Twitter/X publication dated December 10, 2023, he explains that “12.9-inch iPad Air panel deliveries began in December”.

As a reminder, numerous sources have already confirmed the arrival of a 12.9-inch iPad Air for the beginning of next year. The latest news, Mark Gurman indicated that this model would arrive around March 2024 alongside the iPad Pro.

A DigiTimes report published last November specified that a 12.9-inch LCD screen would be used to contain the price of this new iPad Air. It would thus allow Apple to position the tablet in terms of prices between the future 10.9-inch iPad Air and 11-inch iPad Pro.

In addition to this significant change for the iPad Air, the latest newsletter Power On by Mark Gurman announces something new in terms of performance with the introduction of the M2 chip. A logical development for the iPad range, given that the next generation of iPad Pro should feature the M3 processor.

Speaking of the Pro models, their screen should also evolve in March 2024 from LCD (11-inch model) and Mini-Led (12.9-inch model) to Oled. For information, the research and consulting firm Omdia estimated last month that iPad Airs would taste Oled in 2026.
