iPad Pro 2022: Desired feature causes headaches

Apple has big plans for the iPad Pro in 2022. In addition to more powerful hardware, the 11-inch model is now supposed to catch up with its big brother and get a MiniLED display. A recognized insider sees major problems with what is perhaps the most important innovation.

In April 2021, Apple presented the fifth generation of the iPad Pro. However, those who had hoped for a successor in the spring must prepare themselves for disappointment. According to Apple insider “dylandkt” on Twitter, the US company will only be presenting the sixth edition of its professional tablets in the fall. At least from a technical point of view, the wait could be worth it.

iPad Pro 2022: M2 chip and MiniLED displays throughout

In both The M2 chip is to be used in the new iPad Pro models. That makes sense, after all Apple installed the M1 chip in the predecessors. An M1 Pro or M1 Max, as currently found in the MacBook Pro 14 and 16, is probably not an option due to the heat development and power requirements of the two processors. After 1.5 years, Apple has to give a new iPad Pro generation a new chip, for marketing reasons alone.

However, the M2 is not yet official. However, the debut could come in a new MacBook Air, which is expected in the spring, although fall also seems plausible for that.

The iPad Pro with an 11-inch screen should make the leap to MiniLED technology this year. MiniLED displays offer many advantages of AMOLED screens, above all true black and higher contrast values without having to run the risk of a burn-in effect. With the predecessors, Apple only offered the MiniLED technology in the 12.9-inch model, while the smaller 11-inch model was left out in the cold.

MagSafe on iPad Pro: “Nothing but worries”

With the iPad Pro 2022, Apple’s tablets should also be able to be charged wirelessly for the first time. According to the rumor mill, the engineers in Cupertino want to use a larger glass Apple logo on the back. An iPad Pro with wireless charging technology via MagSafe would certainly be the dream of many tablet users.

Will it come to that? The Apple insider remains skeptical: “I have heard nothing but concerns about it,” says dylandkt, citing several sources. So the feature doesn’t seem to be finished yet.
