Apple has just unveiled its new iPad Pro which integrates as expected the new M2 processor already at work on the MacBook Air.

The suspense ends. The Cupertino manufacturer has just presented the iPad Pro M2 via a simple update to its website.

Strictly identical design and characteristics

If you know the iPad Pro M1, released in spring 2021, you will not be surprised by this new model. Apple has not changed the design, which combines aluminum and glass, its tablet, still available in two models of 11 and 12.9 inches.

The smaller screen retains an LED display, while the larger model again inherits a Mini-LED panel which offers the user better contrast and enhanced brightness. Both iPad Pros are still equipped with a TrueDepth front camera and the Face ID facial recognition system.

The M2 makes its nest to ensure all creative tasks

It is inside that we find the main change, with the adoption of the M2 processor. This chip offers, according to Apple, a performance increase of 15% compared to the previous edition and 35% on the graphics part The SoC will be put to the test by the various professional applications that can be found on the App Store, to make video montages or drawings for example.

The tablet is also compatible with Wi-Fi 6E, the latest standard, for theoretical speeds twice as high as the previous generation.

Of course, the new iPad Pro remains compatible with the Apple Pencil. It always stores and charges magnetically on the right edge of the device, and takes advantage of the advances of this iPad Pro. Apple announces a detection of the pen tip at 12 mm from the screen to obtain a preview of the cursor and to carry out more precise work.

For cameras, the iPad Pro M2 does not evolve further, with a two-camera system, accompanied by a LiDAR. The 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture is accompanied by a 10-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Both components can record video at up to 4K 60fps and ProRes 4K 30fps. Finally, the autonomy does not change and is announced at 10 am by Apple which, as usual, does not detail the characteristics of the battery integrated into its device.

As you might expect, the prices of the iPad Pro M2 are much higher than those of the previous generation. Count 1,069 euros for the 11-inch 128 GB version, and no less than 1,469 euros for the 12.9-inch model, in its basic configuration at 128 GB. 5G versions are also available at starting prices of respectively 1,269 and 1,669 euros.

The iPad Pro M2 is already available for pre-order for delivery from October 26.
